Matt O’Riley Praises “Down to Earth” Celtic Star With “Mad” Achievements
Celtic’s James Forrest is receiving high praise from teammate Matt O’Riley for his role in the team’s success this season.
Forrest has been surprisingly instrumental in Celtic’s current lead in the Premiership, sparking to form after being given a chance by Brendan Rodgers.
Forrest, who has spent a significant portion of the season out of the squads, has made a strong comeback, notably scoring in the Scottish Cup semi-final against Aberdeen and netting a crucial double in the league victory at Dundee.
His performance continued to shine in Celtic’s recent 3-0 win over Hearts, setting the stage for the upcoming Glasgow Derby where Celtic could edge closer to securing the title.
Throughout his career, Forrest has amassed an impressive tally of 22 major trophies with Celtic, just one shy of club legend Billy McNeill.
His track record places him as one of the club’s most decorated players, yet O’Riley feels that Forrest’s achievements and impact are often overlooked.
Matt O’Riley said to RecordSport: “It’s pretty mad how much he’s won. He’s just such a really nice guy as well which is the most important thing. He’s just so down to earth. Even when he wasn’t playing regularly at the start of the season, he was still such a nice guy at the training ground. He was a nice guy to be around, never toxic towards anyone.
“If anyone deserves to be playing and be playing well it’s him. He’s also just very good at Football which helps us. You don’t get 100 goals and assists for Celtic if you’re not half decent. He’s proven that over time and I think he deserves a lot more respect than he gets in my opinion.”
