Going Nowhere; Celtic Star Bats Away Parkhead Exit Rumours
Luis Palma has dismissed rumours suggesting he wants to depart Celtic and has affirmed his commitment to the club.
The Honduran winger, who joined last summer in a £3.5 million transfer from Greek side Aris, had an up-and-down season. While he scored some pivotal goals, he really came off the boil in the second half of the season. Towards the end of last term, he hinted at struggling to hit form, leaving fans eager to see the best of him.
Palma, who recently returned to Honduras to tie the knot, is set to rejoin Brendan Rodgers’ squad for their pre-season tour in the USA as they prepare to defend their Premiership title. Expressing his dedication to the Hoops, Palma is eyeing a strong pre-season to regain his form and is also focused on World Cup qualification with Honduras.
He told SunSport, “I have only been at Celtic for a year. I have four years left of my contract. I am focusing on the new season and getting back to the level I was at when I first arrived.”
He added, “It won’t take much to get me back to that. The pre-season will be important for me because we want to become champions again, I want to work harder to ensure that happens again. This week the pre-season begins at Celtic, but I get extra days off because I was playing with the national team.”
This will be a big season for Luis, with fans split on his ability to become a pivotal first-team player. His future at Celtic will depend heavily on how he performs in the rigorous and punishing pre-season, and whether Brendan Rodgers decides to bring in any more wingers.
Celtic have yet to dip their toe in the transfer market, but as we get close to pre-season at the end of June/beginning of July, we’re likely to see an uptick.
