After being cast aside by the Los Angeles Rams, QB Jared Goff responded by taking the Detroit Lions to the brink of the franchise’s 1st Super Bowl last season. The 2016 No. 1 overall pick threw 30 TDs for the 2nd time in his career in leading the Lions to a 12-5 record and NFC North title. Below, we look at Jared Goff’s 2024 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

Goff may not be the most exciting fantasy pick, but after back-to-back strong seasons, he’s a solid midrange QB2. He finished as the QB7 last season and averaged 265.1 passing yards and 1.7 touchdowns per Game over the last 2 years. While Goff offers little in the rushing department, his consistent passing production makes him a reliable fantasy option for 2024.

Goff has an ADP of 97.38 in redraft leagues, which puts him in the range of the 7th to 9th round, depending on the size of the league.

Among QB, Goff’s ADP puts him 16th at the position, behind Trevor Lawrence (Jacksonville Jaguars, 95.96), Brock Purdy (San Francisco 49ers, 88.29) and Tua Tagovailoa (Miami Dolphins, 83.01), and slightly ahead of Drake Maye (New England Patriots, 109.95) and Spencer Rattler (New Orleans Saints, 111.28).

Where should you draft Goff?

Goff has quietly put together 2 top-10 fantasy seasons, despite many writing him off after leaving the Rams. In 2023, he finished as the QB7 with 4,575 passing yards and 32 TDs, following up a QB10 finish in 2022 with 4,438 yards and 29 scores.

The Lions have loaded up on offensive talent, adding RB Jahmyr Gibbs and TE Sam LaPorta to an already impressive group featuring WR Amon-Ra St. Brown. Goff may not have the flashiest arm, but he finished inside the top 10 for passing yards and yards per attempt, showing he’s still capable of pushing the ball downfield.

With one of the best offensive lines and a solid group of pass-catchers, Goff offers a high fantasy floor. Sure, he’s not going to run much — he’s only topped 100 rushing yards in a season once — but back-to-back years with over 4,400 passing yards and nearly 30 TDs make him a reliable low-end QB1 in 2024.

Last year, Goff was consistent, scoring 19+ fantasy points in 7 Games and avoiding bust performances, except for 1 dud against the Bears. The Lions’ strong run Game may limit his upside a bit, but with nearly 4 red-zone trips per Game, Goff will have plenty of scoring chances.

Going in the 9th round as the QB12, Goff is a safe, if not super exciting, pick. He’s a solid bet to deliver another top-15 fantasy season in 2024.
