The San Jose State Spartans and the Air Force Falcons meet Saturday in college Football action from Falcon Stadium. Here’s an Air Force vs San Jose State prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Air Force vs San Jose State pick.

San Jose State Spartans Betting Preview

San Jose State’s 2023 campaign had some ups and downs. The Spartans would go 7-6 overall with a pretty solid 6-2 run in the Mountain West. SJSU finished in third place behind UNLV and Boise State (both 6-2), however. In the Hawaii Bowl, San Jose State lost to Coastal Carolina 24-14.

The Spartans played the Sacramento State Hornets in their first Game of the new season. San Jose State was down 17-14 at the break but would go on to score 21 points in the final quarter for a 42-24 win. QB Emmett Brown bagged 298 yards and three scores. Floyd Chalk led the rush on 87 yards and two scores of his own.

Air Force Falcons Betting Preview

Over on the Falcons’ side, they had a pretty good run last year at 9-4 overall and 5-3 in the Mountain West Games. Air Force would finish behind UNLV, Boise State and San Jose State in the standings. The Falcons won their Armed Forces Bowl berth though, taking out James Madison 31-21.

Back on Saturday the Falcons took on Merrimack College. In that one Air Force turned a 14-0 halftime lead into a 21-6 victory. John Busha threw for 71 yards on 6-of-14 passing. owen Allen led the rushers on 63 yards off 16 carries.

Air Force vs San Jose State Prediction

I’m probably going to lean San Jose State but I’m not touching it. The Spartans took three quarters to really get going in their opening matchup versus Sacramento State. SJSU would end up with 387 total yards (324 passing) and 25 first downs. There were some rough stats, though: nine penalties, three turnovers and a tepid 5-of-11 on third downs. The defense did come up with five turnovers though, so there were some good efforts out there.

As for Air Force, they didn’t have too many issues with Merrimack, who shot themselves in the proverbial foot with 11 penalties and three lost fumbles. The Falcons weren’t exactly overwhelming on offense (237 yards; 3.4 yards per play) however, so I like San Jose State to take care of Business here.
