Explore this Haunted Scottish Inn in New York
It is now September, so people are covering their pools and pulling out the jack-o-lanterns! As the night creeps in a little sooner each night and the air gets a little cooler. If you're looking to get some spooky spectacles in this fall, then I recommend making an overnight trip and staying at some of the haunted hotels of New York! The Brae Loch Inn in Cazenovia, NY (Central NY region/Madison County) is a beautiful inn and restaurant with its share of Mysterious activity.
Reports of Paranormal Activity at the Brae Loch Inn
Customers report seeing things in the overnight rooms or the dining rooms. Fortunately, all of the reports recorded claim that these are all friendly and welcoming spirits. When it comes to the psychics and mediums who have stayed over, they have claimed to speak to a girl named Sarah and a boy named Jim. In Room 12, people have claimed to see a gentleman in an old-fashioned kind of pirate-looking shirt coming out of the closet and standing over their bed. Not to mention, many guests have reported seeing lights and orbs. The most active guest rooms are the "Mary Queen of Scots" Room 12 and the "Robert The Bruce" Room 13.

If you are in the mood for lighter fare, sit back in their wee pub and order from the pub menu. Experience their fine creative American cuisine, with a Scottish and French flair. The menu, consists of a wide variety of the freshest seafood, prime cuts of Angus beef, unique pasta dishes and delectable fowl. View the menus here.
Words from the Departed -The Ghostly Chambermaid of the Brae Loch Inn:
If you visit the Haunted History Trail of New York State website, then you can find this "note" left by the ghostly chambermaid that many employees and visitors claim to see!
When you look at this building, you see an inviting Scottich inn, with pleasant guest rooms and a pub for the thirsty. But I remember this site when it was the Burr Family estate, built in the early 19th century. I was there when it was a home, loved as much 100 years ago as it is today. My heart still leaps when someone enters it. You see, I have never stopped being an attendant here. Death does not take one away from one’s calling.
I check up on the guests in each of the 12 rooms, still wearing my pressed blue dress. I try to reach out to the guests and serve as a guide when I can. It is true that I can get into trouble now and then, just as I did in life. But how can one resist the urge to tug gently on a little girl’s ponytail or give a bare foot a tickle?
Please enjoy the Scottish decorations, food and drink. It brings this old spirit great joy being a part of such merriment. If you do see me, know that I am forever here to serve, which is a gift certain souls adore. I look forward to checking in on you. Please let me know if there’s anything I can do to make your stay more comfortable at The Brae Loch Inn. Sweet dreams!
