Emily in Paris Season 5 Is Happening!

It is happening! The fourth season of Emilly in Paris wrapped up on 12 September and now we have an official confirmation for season 5. Emily Cooper’s adventures will continue in Rome, announced Netflix on 16 September as the OTT behemoth greenlit the new season.

Netflix announces Emily in Paris season 5

As season 4 ends with Gabriel’s (played by Lucas Bravo) decision to head to Rome to patch up with Emily (played by Lily Collins), it sets the stage for season 5. Collins broke the news first during an appearance on Good Morning America on 16 September. She announced, “For the first time I get to talk about the fact that there will be a season five.” She looks forward to how the story propels Emily and her Italian boyfriend and fashion scion Marcello Muratori’s (played by Eugenio Franceschini) relationship in the Italian capital.

“Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want to be able to have a better work/life balance,” she said. “We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time.”

Meanwhile, show creator Darren Star told Tudum, “We’re thrilled with the incredible response to this season of Emily in Paris and excited to return for a fifth to continue Emily’s adventures in Rome and Paris!”

Star also added, “Emily’s going to have a presence in Rome. It doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris, but she’s going to have a presence in Rome.” The thought of sending her to Italy came from Star’s idea of giving the audience something unexpected — to “stay ahead of the audience and take them to unexpected places,” and prove “the show has the ability to have a bigger footprint.”

Commenting about what will happen to Gabriel next, Collins said, “Unfortunately, Gabriel has to deal with the repercussions of his choice to end things with her.”

When is Emily in Paris season 5 releasing?

Big clues about season 5 dropped in 2024 at an amfAR event at the Cannes Film Festival. Winnie Harlow and Paris Jackson announced that a guest role in the next season was being auctioned off. Variety states the winning bid was sold for EUR 250,000, and mentions filming would likely begin in mid-2025.

However, an official release date is yet to be announced.

What happens in Emily in Paris season 4: A quick recap

Emily in Paris season 4 begins with Emily salvaging Julien’s (played by Samuel Arnold) campaign for the brand AMI. She sorts things out with Alfie (played by Lucien Laviscount) and gets him onboard for a shoot. Emily also brings back Camille (played by Camille Razat) who disappeared after leaving Gabriel at their wedding altar.

Camille returns to Paris and starts a relationship with Greek artist Sofia (played by Melia Kreiling). They even move in together, albeit it’s across the hall from Gabriel. Meanwhile, Emily and Gabriel rekindle their romance. But is everything as tres bien as it seems? At some point in Part 2, Emily starts feeling like the third wheel with Camille around and eventually breaks up with Gabriel.

A few major revelations also take place. Firstly, it turns out, Camille is not pregnant. Then, Luc’s (played by Bruno Gouery) girlfriend Marianne (played by Laurence Gormezano) is not a Michelin inspector, implying Gabriel’s dream hangs in the balance. But when another inspector awards him a star, he cannot help but share it with Emily as soon as possible. Looks like the sparks are still alive.

Meanwhile, a chance encounter leads Emily to meet Marcello Muratori. Their growing romance takes her on a Roman holiday, but drama never ceases to follow her. The budding love story faces a screeching halt when Sylvie Grateau (played by Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) ambushes them in Rome for potential Business. This upsets Marcello.

Season 4 ends with Agence Grateau securing the deal and opening an office in the Italian capital with Emily leading it. As the last episode wraps up with her and Marcello patching up, Gabriel decides to leave for Rome to give their relationship another shot.
