Elephant’s Surprise Visit Delights Guests at Botswana Lodge

Imagine spending your vacation at a bush lodge in Botswana, surrounded by the mesmerizing beauty of an African wildlife conservancy where Animals roam freely.

This dream came true for a family staying at Elephant Sands Lodge, eagerly anticipating encounters with extraordinary wildlife.

One afternoon, while relaxing by the swimming pool, the family heard rustling in the nearby bushes. Unsure of what might appear, they speculated it could be a harmless impala, a graceful giraffe, or a zebra.

However, there was also the possibility of more formidable Animals like a jackal, a leopard, or even a lion. To their astonishment, an unexpected visitor emerged from the bushes—a majestic elephant.

In awe, the family watched as the enormous elephant approached the pool. The elephant cautiously observed the humans, ensuring they posed no threat.

Once confident of their harmless presence, the elephant gently dipped its trunk into the water, drinking deeply.

The lodge maintains clean and chlorine-free pool water, knowing that wildlife often uses it as a drinking source. Contrary to popular belief, elephants do not use their trunks as straws. Instead, they suck water partway up their trunks and then spray it into their mouths.

An elephant can drink up to 50 gallons of water a day. Fortunately, someone captured this extraordinary moment on their phone, sharing the video for everyone to enjoy.

After quenching its thirst, the elephant glanced at the onlookers, seemingly expressing gratitude and perhaps a hint of apology for any disturbance caused. This incredible wildlife encounter created an unforgettable vacation memory for the lucky family.
