After a brilliant showing in Celtic’s 3-1 League Cup victory over Hibernian, Daizen Maeda shared his thoughts on social media, simply stating, “Great team, great performance.” The winger turned forward was instrumental in the win, netting twice in the first half to set the tone for Celtic’s progression to the quarter-finals of the League Cup.

Maeda’s relentless pressing was key throughout the match, leading to numerous errors from the Hibernian defence. The Japanese star’s two goals were very well taken and his tireless work off the ball paid off in the second half when his pressure forced a major mistake that allowed Nicolas Kühn to score Celtic’s third goal, effectively sealing the victory.

The understated nature of Maeda’s post highlights his humble, team-oriented mindset, despite his standout individual performance. His contribution went beyond just scoring; it was his work rate and intensity that entertained the fans to no end.

Daizen went from being a mostly quiet character in the Celtic team to a real personality on and off the pitch. We’re putting it down to the blonde hair, ever since he ditched the bald look, he’s been one of Celtic’s best performers!

Up next for Celtic is St Mirren in Paisley next Sunday before a high noon showdown with Rangers the following Sunday as the league title race kicks into another gear. If Maeda’s performance on Sunday is anything to go by, we’re in for a treat!
