Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers was full of praise for Falkirk manager John McGlynn ahead of Celtic’s Premier Sports Cup quarter-final match against Falkirk.

McGlynn, who worked as a scout for Celtic from 2015 to 2018 and with Rodgers from May 2016 until September 2018, made an impressive impact on the Irishman during their time together.

Rodgers said: (Premier Sports),”I’m so happy to see John McGlynn again. He is one of the nicest guys I have ever met in my life. He worked so hard for me when he was here and was a great staff member.

“He is an amazing guy. He went and done a fantastic job at Raith and now he you are seeing him do fantastically well with Falkirk. I look forward to seeing him and we will need to be at our best in the next round.

“I think he thought his time in management was gone, but I really tried to encourage him to get back in.

“He is a loyal man and his work ethic and mentality is incredible. I wanted to support him and help him as much as I could, I can remember speaking to the Raith Rovers owner at the time and I am just so happy for him.”

The role Rodgers played in helping McGlynn secure the Raith Rovers job back in 2018 is remarkable and highlights the importance of loyalty and respect to the Celtic manager.

Rodgers also clearly has a lot of respect for McGlynn as a manager and expects a tough quarter-final against Falkirk at Celtic Park.

Falkirk’s shock 2-0 win over Hearts yesterday secured their place in the last eight, highlighting the incredible work McGlynn is doing with the Bairns against what is arguably the third-best team in Scotland.

Celtic themselves look to be in brilliant form, and with just under two weeks left in the summer transfer window, they will look to add quality to an already strong squad.
