The Chicago Cubs will head up to the Bay to face the San Francisco Giants for Game one of their three-Game set this Friday from Oracle Park.

Cubs Betting Preview

Chicago comes in at 26-36 after being swept by Los Angeles. The Cubs have now dropped four straight on this California road trip, and they’ll look to close on a much higher note. The Chicago offense is scoring 4.12 runs per Game, while batting .257, with a .335 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.31 ERA, with a 1.27 WHIP. Nico Hoerner has collected a hit in seven of the last ten Games, and he leads the Cubs in batting (.278) and hits (63).  Dansby Swanson had a strong series against San Diego, and he’s posting splits of .263/6/26.

Marcus Stroman (6-4, 2.39 ERA, 68 Ks) will get the call for Chicago. The ninth-year pitcher is currently enjoying one of the finest stretches of his career. A quality start in Philly, was followed by an emotional eight-inning revenge spot against the Mets, and then he topped things off by tossing a complete Game shutout against the high octane Rays. The Stro Show kept rolling last week in San Diego with another scoreless outing, striking out six over six innings of work, and he’ll somehow look to keep things going in the Bay this Friday night.

Giants Betting Preview

San Francisco comes in at 32-30 after sweeping Colorado. The Giants went into Coors and ripped off three wins to jump back above .500, and they’ll look to build on that performance this weekend. The San Francisco offense is scoring 4.81 runs per Game, while batting .245, with a .317 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.97 ERA, with a 1.29 WHIP. Mike Conforto homered in the series finale,  and he leads the team in HR (12), with 31 RBI. J.D. Davis has recorded a hit in seven straight Games, and he leads the Giants in RBI (34). Thiaro Estrada also homered in the Game three win over Colorado, and he leads SFG in batting (.300).

Anthony DeSclafani (4-5, 3.97 ERA, 51 Ks) will make the start for San Francisco. The tenth-year righty’s hot start has been marred by inconsistency, as he’s traded his last four decisions. DeSclafani struggled against Baltimore at home in his last outing, giving up six runs in just three innings to drop his fifth decision. DeSclafani’s prior two outings at Oracle were solid, but it’s unclear what form comes out against the Cubs here.

Chicago vs San Francisco Trends

Chicago is 34-22 against the spread this season, with a 29-24-3 O/U record. San Francisco is 28-28 ATS this year, with a 26-28-2 over/under record.

Corey’s Free Pick

It’s going to be very hard to bet against Marcus Stroman here, as the former All-Star looks as dialed in as ever. San Francisco is coming off a divisional sweep themselves, and this has the making of a strong primetime matchup. I like trusting another strong outing from Stroman here at the most pitcher-friendly park, as the Cubs need to bring a losing skid of their own. Back Chicago this Friday night.
