Conor Gallagher believes his leadership role at Chelsea has boosted his chances of making the England Euro 2024 squad this summer.

The midfielder has been forced to step up at club level this season, captaining the Blues on several occasions due to injuries for Reece James and Ben Chilwell, and he believes this new-found pressure could boost his chance of making the England squad for Germany's Euro 2024 tournament.

Gallagher has been one of a few regular starters for Chelsea during what has been a disorderly season, which has left the Blues 11th in the Premier League standings.

Now, he hopes the added pressure at club level could be beneficial for his national team dreams, as he looks to help the Three Lions win the European Championship in July.

He said: "I think gaining experience wherever in Football, if it's club or international, you improve in certain scenarios.

"In tournaments coming up with England, gaining the experience I've had in the two cup comPetitions with Chelsea and getting as far as we have done will definitely help, being in those positions.

"I've had to step up and be more of a leader this season at Chelsea which I've really enjoyed and I think that's helped me to develop more as a player as well.

"It always helps when you are performing well for your club. It is what Gareth Southgate and the others are looking for. I'll continue to work my hardest for Chelsea and give myself the best opportunity to be in that squad."
