Christian McCaffrey's injury keeps Fantasy Football managers guessing

Christian McCaffrey remained out as his San Francisco 49ers took a rest with their Week 9 bye. The star running back had already missed the win over the Cowboys in Week 8 as he continued his recovery from an Achilles injury that has kept him out of every Game this season.

But while Kyle Shanahan’s men watched on from the comfort of their homes last week, it was back to business as they looked to get into gear for Week 10’s clash with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, hopefully with McCaffrey in the team.

What injury does McCaffrey have?

Having been hit by Achilles tendinitis, McCaffrey was placed on the IR in mid-September, ahead of the 49ers' Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Under NFL rules, players can come off the IR after four games, so San Francisco were allowed to reactivate the 28-year-old ever since their Week 5 defeat to the Arizona Cardinals on October 6. However, he remained on the IR.

The day after beating the Seahawks on October 10, San Francisco head coach Shanahan confirmed that their star could be out for a while. The idea seemed to always be to get him back for Week 10, when San Francisco face the Bucs on November 10. So, what‘s the coach saying now that we’re almost there?

“He’s been awesome these last two days,” Shanahan said. “You never know [re. the injury] a setback or anything, but these two days have been great, and I expect to see him out there.”

Is that enough to give confidence to Fantasy Football managers across the country to start him? No doubt we’ll get more information as Sunday nears.
