Celtic has officially addressed the ongoing issue regarding the absence of away fans at derby matches against Rangers.

The club confirmed that they have completed all the agreed-upon safety enhancements at Celtic Park to accommodate visiting supporters. This announcement comes after photographic evidence from CeltsAreHere highlighted the completed preparations.

Despite their efforts, Celtic stated that they could not proceed with allowing Rangers fans at the upcoming September derby due to the lack of reciprocal assurances from Rangers regarding safety measures at Ibrox for the January match.

The statement from Celtic expressed their commitment to fulfilling their obligations and expressed disappointment in the lack of progress on Rangers’ part. Rangers have not commenced the necessary safety works nor applied for the required planning permissions, contrary to the agreement.

Celtic’s statement concludes with a commitment to ongoing dialogue with all relevant parties to find a resolution that ensures the safety and inclusion of away fans at these matches.

The statement read: “Across a number of months, Celtic has completed all necessary works with regard to accommodating away supporters for derby matches.

“Without a guarantee that our supporters could attend Ibrox in January, however, unfortunately we were not in a position to allocate tickets to away supporters at Celtic Park for the forthcoming match in September.

“We will continue to engage with all parties to seek a satisfactory solution.”
