Liverpool has set a £20 million price tag on goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, a valuation that has put him out of reach for Celtic, according to a report from the Daily Express.

The Scottish champions had identified Kelleher as a potential replacement for the recently retired Joe Hart, who ended his career on a high note by helping Celtic secure a domestic double.

The Irish goalie is eyeing a move that will see him become a number 1, insisting he’s ready for his “next step”.

The Irish ‘keeper has been linked with a move since last summer and was a long-term target for the Hoops, but the price tag is just too steep for Celtic.

Kelleher, 25, made 26 appearances this season and put in some solid performances, which undoubtedly saw his price tag increase.

Despite the long-term links, the financial realities pose a significant obstacle. He’s a great goalkeeper, and probably still a steal for £20 million in today’s market.

A loan move might still be a possibility, though Liverpool’s new manager, Arne Slot, is expected to prefer a permanent sale as he undertakes a substantial team rebuild following Jurgen Klopp’s departure.
