This performance came amidst ongoing discussions regarding his future at the club.

Kelly, 18, has been a subject of speculation after rejecting a contract extension offered by Celtic. His decision not to sign has led to a strained situation with manager Brendan Rodgers, who chose not to include Kelly in the senior team’s pre-season tour to the USA.

Despite being left out of pre-season friendlies and relegated to the B team, Kelly showcased his talent by scoring in the Lowland League opener. Last season’s Academy Player of the Year at Celtic, Kelly was initially expected to be a key player under Rodgers. However, the contract stalemate has cast doubt on his immediate future at Celtic Park.

Rodgers has expressed frustration over the situation but remains hopeful that Kelly will commit his future to Celtic. If an agreement is not reached soon, there is a growing concern that Kelly may be moved on this summer before his contract expires in January.
