As Celtic prepare for their pre-season return at the end of this week, supporters will be hoping transfer activity involving the club begins to ramp up.

So far this summer, things have been rather dormant with the Hoops. Their first friendly is just over a week away but there has been no sign of any potential incoming or outgoings despite the transfer window being opened for almost a fortnight.

There are several areas in Brendan Rodgers' squad which need strengthening.

A replacement for Joe Hart is at the top of the agenda, but bringing in another attacker and midfielder would do no harm.

At the back, too, there needs to be some additions. Greg Taylor could do with some decent comPetition and given some links in the window so far, it looks like the club are on the hunt for a centre-half.

Flavius Daniliuc and Chris Mepham have been mentioned as potential options this summer but back in January, Scott McKenna was touted.

The Scotland internationalist eventually joined Copenhagen but is now a free agent.

A homegrown player who knows the league, Celtic could do worse than acquiring the 27-year-old's services but according to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, he has been offered to two Serie A teams.

A move for McKenna would make sense for Celtic, but it feels as though they will have to get rid of some players at centre-back – such as Gustaf Lagerbielke – before bringing any in to strengthen the side.
