Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has provided an update on the fitness of Cameron Carter-Vickers, with the USA international missing out this afternoon against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.

Carter-Vickers has struggled with injuries over his time at the club, but when he does play, he is usually one of the Hoops’ star players, with the artificial pitch at Kilmarnock a risk for the hamstring injury CCV has struggled with.

Rodgers said: (Celtic TV), “More precautionary, it’s when he played 3 Games virtually in less than 7 days, so you had the Wednesday Game against Dundee, Aberdeen, and Red Bull Leipzig.

“Having just had him come back from injury, we tried to manage him through and get as much out of him as we could.

“However, just a little bit of fatigue in his hamstring, and so we don’t want to risk that anymore when we have really good players that can come in and play. So, he misses out today, but longer-term, he’ll be fine for the Hearts Game.”

Great news from Rodgers, and a wise decision not to risk further setbacks for Carter-Vickers.

Managing his minutes and Games is likely what will be seen from the Irishman with regards to Carter-Vickers over the season, due to the tough injuries he has suffered and how vital a player CCV has proven to be over his time in Glasgow.

Hopefully, he will be fully fit to face Hearts in 13 days at Tynecastle at such a tough ground.
