We may have been enjoying the Oscars the other night – here's what happened if you missed it – but there'll be no frocks and suits for the players, at least until long after the game, and likely just the suits!

That said, there's something very satisfying, don't you think, about seeing all the attire for the game in place awaiting the stars to get dressed.

For the Dutch team, the big sigh of relief will have come from the news that Veerman was back to full fitness and slots into the visitors' midfield.

Bosz, as he has frequently done this season, teams up with Schouten and Boscagli in central defence. Bakayoko is brought in up front, to work with De Jong and Tillman, which sees Lozano being relegated to the bench.

Back to the team news and for the hosts there are no major surprises.

Ryerson, who was uncertain due to skin iNFLaMMAtion and missed the final training session, is not included from the off but could appear later. Salih Özcan takes his place.

Emre Can will play on the right side of defense, with Süle and Hummels in the center, and Maatsen on the left.

Goalscorer in the first leg, Malen, along with Sancho on the other flank will look to cause havoc and get the crowd as noisy as possible... not that they'll need much encouragement.

Why isn’t Gio Reyna playing for Borussia Dortmund against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League?

There may be some of you tuning in to this coverage to check how American star Gio Reyna gets on. My previous posts with the team news will have clearly disappointed if that is the case.

Reyna has long been considered one of the USMNT’s top young talents but 2023-24 hasn’t been his season. A regular in the Dortmund team at the age of just 18, the attacking midfielder’s recent time in Germany has been hampered by injuries and inconsistency, to the extent that he has swapped the latter stages of the Champions League for a regelation battle in the Premier League with Nottingham Forest.

Hence, despite still being on the books of the German's, he is playing no part in the second half of the season for them. (Please stay though, there's so much more to this game).

PSV Eindhoven defeated Go Ahead Eagles last Friday by 1-0 and lead the Eredivisie with 69 points.

As for the Germans, they sit fourth in the Bundesliga with 47 points, 20 less than Bayer Leverkusen, who lead with 67.

Home comforts for Dortmund

Dortmund will be banking on their formidable home form in the UEFA Champions League as they seek to progress past PSV and secure a spot in the quarter-finals for the first time in three seasons. Dortmund have reached the round of 16 for the ninth time overall, marking their fifth appearance in six seasons. 

The Signal Iduna Park faithful have been known to provide a cauldron of support, and Dortmund will be relying on that familiar atmosphere to spur them on tonight.

PSV are making their fifth appearance at this stage, with only their second in 17 seasons. They aim to advance to the quarter-finals for the first time since the 2006/07 season.

What do you mean you missed the first leg?! I hope you had a good excuse.

Well, lucky for you are William Gittins kept the receipts and so you can check back in detail what happened on the night. Here's his post-match report:

PSV Eindhoven return to the knockout stages of the Champions League with a hard-fought draw against Borussia Dortmund. 

The hosts started well but were wasteful in the final third, Malik Tillman missing three presentable chances early on. Dortmund struggled to get a foothold in the opening stages when Donyell Malen fired home from a tight angle against his former club. 

PSV continues to push in the second half but needed a bit of fortune to draw level. Dortmund defender Matts Hummels flew into a challenge in the box and gave away a foul on Tillman. 

Luuk de Jong stepped up to take the penalty kick for the hosts and made no mistake from close range.

As the Game ticked on both sides seemed fairly content to take the draw. The tie is perfectly poised ahead of the second leg in Dortmund.
