Ten Hag responds to loss following Carragher’s critique of Man Utd coaching
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has responded to criticism from Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher after the Red Devils suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. The loss marked United’s 13th defeat of the season, the most in a campaign in their History.
Following the match, Carragher labeled United as “the worst coached team in the Premier League” and suggested that even the club’s Under-23s could have put up a better performance against Crystal Palace. He highlighted the defensive vulnerabilities and lack of creativity in the absence of key player Bruno Fernandes.
Ten Hag, however, remains defiant in the face of criticism and expressed his determination to keep fighting for his team. He acknowledged the poor performance against Crystal Palace but emphasized his belief that he is the right man to lead Manchester United forward next season.
Speaking after the match, Ten Hag admitted, “It is clear and it is obvious. This is underperforming. We didn’t act how we want to do it and it’s by far not good enough. We are very disappointed, but the fans were always behind us and we keep fighting, like the fans did.”
Despite the mounting challenges and defensive woes facing Manchester United, Ten Hag maintained his confidence in his ability to turn things around at Old Trafford. He acknowledged the team’s injury issues but stressed the importance of dealing with the problems and striving for improvement.
When asked about his capabilities to transform Manchester United, Ten Hag replied, “I will keep fighting and I prepared the team in the best way I could do and it was not good enough, by far not good enough. I have to take the responsibility for that, but I will find energy and I will prepare them for Sunday’s Game.”
The Dutch manager also pointed out that despite the setbacks, the squad has the right players and potential to succeed. He highlighted the challenges faced in the backline due to numerous injuries but remained optimistic about overcoming the obstacles.
Ten Hag concluded by reaffirming his commitment to Manchester United, stating, “Absolutely and the right players are there so when available, we have a good squad. We miss almost the whole backline and then, we have problems.”
As the Premier League season progresses, all eyes will be on Ten Hag and Manchester United as they strive to bounce back from their recent defeats and restore their position in the top-flight comPetition.
