In a crucial top-of-the-table Scottish Women’s Premier League clash, Celtic Women held Rangers to a 0-0 draw on Monday at Broadwood, keeping their league title hopes firmly in their own hands.

The bank holiday match, which kicked off at noon, was fiercely contested but neither team could break the deadlock, leaving the title race wide open.

Both teams entered the match locked on 72 points, but with Celtic leading the table on goal difference. Despite a lacklustre first half, Celtic emerged more determined in the second half, thanks largely to an inspiring halftime talk from coach Elena Sadiku. The improved performance, however, wasn’t enough to secure a win, although Celtic had the better chances to score.

With just three Games left in the season, the draw means both teams remain tied on 73 points, but Celtic maintains a significant edge with a goal difference superior by 13 goals. This goal difference could prove crucial if the title race comes down to the wire.

Looking ahead, Rangers face a challenging schedule with two consecutive away Games against Glasgow City and Hibernian, both of which will be crucial in their title pursuit, before ending the season at home against Partick Thistle. Celtic’s path includes a home Game against Thistle, an away Game against Hearts, and a final home Game against Hibs, which will be played at Celtic Park on May 19.

Given their goal difference advantage and the results of today’s match, Celtic are in a strong position to clinch the title, the first of their History.
