We are just weeks away from dirt track racing in the Hudson Valley. The 2024 season will only include one track this year with a weekly schedule and that will be Accord Speedway.

Open night at Accord is on the calendar for Friday Night May 3rd, 2024. They have practices scheduled in April both on Friday the 19th and the 26th according to information shared on their Social Media.

Accord Speedway Will Race on Friday Nights in 2024

Accord Speedway will run most of their racing events on Friday night this year, however, they do have a few racing events on other nights. The AMA Motorcycle Race will be on Saturday, May 25th.

2023 Accord Speedway Reserve Parking Being Honored in 2024

One exciting piece of news that the track shared today on its Facebook page was about reserving parking. Accord Speedway announced today that they will be honoring the 2023 reserve pit spots.

If you bought one you need to reach out if you are interested in using it again and it will be honored for 2024.

Due to the crappy season in 2023, anyone who bought a reserved pit spot, can have it again for 2024 with no fee. However, you must put a sign up asap! (The Official Accord Speedway via Facebook)

Last year weather played a part in canceling many races plus the speedway spent the summer working on improving the track's surface. The quarter-mile track got a new surface and this year a new sign.

If you don't have a pass from 2023 the 2024's will be on sale soon.

Accord Speedway History Dating Back to 1962

Accord Speedway has traditional run racing on Friday nights in Ulster County, New York. In trying to find some historical facts about the speedway I came across this cool old video footage put together by Old Speedways. According to this, the first race was held in 1962.

Then apparently it closed in September of 1987 and if you follow along in the video the track sat dormant until it was bought in 1991 and re-opened in 1992. If you grew up near Accord or anywhere in Ulster County and went to the track you will love the old footage captured in this video shared on YouTube by snooch77.

Old Ulster County Farm on Tow Path

Some houses that have been left to ruin can seem impossible to restore but the home at 345 Tow Path Road still seems to have great bones. It is also in a great location if you are looking for open space and some Hudosn Valley history. You must take a look at Turner's Farm.

Old Cemeteries in Ulster County New York

These old cemeteries are scattered throughout Ulster County, New York. If you are familiar with the area you have most likely driven by one. My question is have you ever stopped and taken a moment to think about history? Some of the people in these old family plots lived in the Hudson Valley during the 1700s. One thing I do ask is if you do come across an old cemetery please be respectful. These grounds are someone's final resting place they should be treated that way no matter how you find them. Taking anything other than possibly a stone rubbing or a photo is unacceptable.
