Bengals - Chiefs injury report for NFL week 2: Higgins, Brown, and Moss
As the Cincinnati Bengals prepare to face the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2, they might be without one of their key offensive weapons, wide receiver Tee Higgins, for the second consecutive Game. NFL Insider Adam Schefter appeared on “The Pat McAfee Show” earlier in the week, where he addressed Higgins’ status after the wideout was a late scratch from last week’s matchup due to a hamstring injury.
Cincinnati Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals, known for slow starts under head coach Zac Taylor, lost their season opener to the New England Patriots, scoring 17-27. Quarterback Joe Burrow has struggled in the early weeks of previous seasons, with a 1-6 record in the first two weeks over the past four years.
Several players are dealing with injuries, with rookie offensive tackle Amarius Mims and tight end Tanner Hudson doubtful to play. Linebacker Logan Wilson is expected to play despite a knee injury. Running back Zack Moss and defensive tackle BJ Hill are expected to be ready to go after full participation in practice at the end of the week.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs had a great Week 1 performance, winning 31-20 against the Baltimore Ravens. Mahomes played well, and the team didn’t suffer many injuries.
Head coach Andy Reid updated some key players, including Hollywood Brown, who is recovering from an injury. Given the success of the Chiefs’ offense in Week 1, it’s uncertain whether Brown will play. Rashee Rice had a breakout performance, catching seven of nine targets for 103 yards, and proved to be a reliable option for Mahomes.
Hollywood Brown will stay on the injured reserve list due to his shoulder injury, so he won’t play this week. Everyone else is good to go.
The Bengals’ slow start and potential absences on offense might put them at a disadvantage in Week 2. They will need Burrow and his remaining weapons to step up if they hope to avoid a 0-2 start. However, with Higgins likely sidelined and the Chiefs looking like early Super Bowl favorites, the challenge will be significant for Cincinnati.
