Along with three Super Bowl wins, Dallas Cowboys legend Troy Aikman can now add country music to his list of accolades. On Friday, country singer/songwriter Wade Bowen released the music video for his nostalgic single titled “Friday Night” from the studio album “Flyin”. The video features Aikman as the football announcer.

Bowen is a Texas native and (much like this writer) a diehard Dallas Cowboys and Texas Tech Red Raiders football fan. He’s good friends with Aikman, who announces a game-winning touchdown at the beginning of the music video, which later follows a high school football player and his love interest.

“I’ve been lucky to become friends with Troy over the last few years. Sometimes, all you have to do is ask,” said Bowen. “I said, ‘Any interest in being a high school football announcer for this track?’ And he said, ‘Absolutely.’ He was so gracious. He sent us a bunch of different tracks. And here I am thinking how this is the guy who I had posters of on my wall as a kid, and here he is about to be on my record. It’s pretty amazing, man.”

Aikman equally admires Bowen and the two share a love for this song for the way it brings them back to their own high school football days.

“I’m a big fan of Wade’s music, and when he asked me to appear in his ‘Friday Night’ video, I didn’t hesitate to say yes,” Aikman said (via Sports Illustrated). “It’s a great tune, and it really brings back memories of when I was playing high school Football in Henryetta, Oklahoma. Friday Night Football is a way of life across the country, and Wade’s song is an anthem for those nights under the lights.”

“I’m so honored to not only know Troy, but to also call him a friend,” Bowen said. “He’s an amazing guy and shares a true passion for music, so having him on this song and in this video is a dream come true for me. The song ‘Friday Night’ took me right back to playing Football in high school and flooded me with so many childhood memories.”
