Despite some viewing the group as relatively favourable for Celtic, comPetition remains tough, highlighting matches against heavyweights like RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund, and Atalanta, as well as solid sides like Aston Villa and Club Brugge. In Celtic’s group, there is a Champions League finalist, Europa League winner and two conference league semi-finalists, one of which is Aston Villa, who also finished in the top 4 in the Premier League last season.

Sutton believes that Celtic should be capitalizing on their home advantage, aiming to secure victories at Celtic Park against teams like Slovan Bratislava, RB Leipzig, Young Boys, and Club Brugge, while also looking to get a result away against Dinamo Zagreb.

He wrote in the Daily Record: “Celtic’s home matches against Bratislava, Leipzig, Young Boys and Bruges are Games which could be won. At the very least not lost. Same should go for the Game against Dinamo in Zagreb. Dortmund, Atalanta and Aston Villa away will be tough, but that’s just three out of the eight Games.”

With the new Champions League format, the top 24 teams from the group stages will advance, with the top eight automatically entering the Round of 16.

If the team picks up ten points, it could be enough for Celtic to progress, which makes the need for a strong start so important. Celtic should be looking to get a good few points on the board at home, starting against Bratislava next Wednesday.
