The couple detailed the engagement while speaking to Vogue, revealing that Shaun asked Nina for her hand in marriage at the Golden Swan restaurant in New York City. “I went into shock,” she said about the surprise proposal. “I just froze and stared at him.”

According to the outlet, Shaun had his publicist send Nina a fake invitation for an intimate CFDA/Vogue dinner with Anna Wintour. “He made the invite look so legitimate,” Nina said about the ploy to get her to the restaurant.

However, Nina was only greeted by Shaun and the photographer once she got to the restaurant. “He said all the right things,” she said of the actual proposal.

After Nina said yes, the couple was joined by friends to celebrate. Not only did they enjoy caviar and champagne at the restaurant, but they also ordered Shake Shack and dumplings for everyone to snack on.
