Golden Bachelorette’s Joan Vassos Reveals If She and Chock Chapple Will Have Televised Wedding

The Golden Bachelorette star Joan Vassos revealed if she and fiancé Chock Chapple plan to televise their wedding.

“You’re absolutely not going to see a TV wedding in three months,” Joan, 61, told Us Weekly in an interview published on Tuesday, November 19.

Joan and Chock, 61, got engaged during the season finale on November 13, just like The Golden Bachelor’s Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist during season 1 in November 2023. However, Gerry, 72, and Theresa, 71, didn’t waste any time and they got married during a televised wedding in January. The former couple eventually announced their split three months later in April.

“I loved that ending for Gerry and Theresa. The reason we’re not having a wedding in three months has nothing to do with Gerry and Theresa,” Joan said about her and Chock’s reasoning for not rushing into marriage. “I just don’t want to have another thing I have to plan right now.”

She continued, “When we come together for a wedding, which could be a TV wedding, might not be, it won’t be in three months. I just don’t want to have another thing to plan right now.”

While Joan and Chock plan to take their time when it comes to their wedding, she insisted that they’re enjoying their engagement. “We are loving being together, and I want to take the time for us to get to know each other’s families and friends,” she said.

After they confirmed their engagement, Joan and Chock revealed their plans to spend time in New York City. However, they clarified their intentions and explained they won’t be in the city full time while speaking to the outlet.

“Chock has a Business in Kansas. I have kids and grandkids in Maryland. We know we’re going to spend time in [each place], but then we have this really fun plan: Both of us have always dreamed and finally, at this weird stage in life, are making this dream come true — to live in a big city, specifically New York,” Joan explained. “We both love the energy. There’s culture, and we both have friends there.”

The couple also gushed about why they’re a great match, with Chock explaining that they “get along so well.”

“I call it the 5 percent. There’s 5 percent you usually don’t bend on. We’ve [said], ‘If it’s important to you, make sure the other one knows it.’ The other 95 percent at our age is flexible,” he said about the mindset. “We’ve been able to spend a good amount of time together, and we’ve had to deal with some stuff, from family matters to Business matters. We work so well together. And a lot of it is, I just let Joan take charge! She’s very good at it too. I call her the matriarch. She goes, ‘Don’t call me the matriarch.’”

While Chock said that he also appreciated Joan’s “patience,” she explained that their romance works because they know they “have to respect each other’s existing lives but also prioritize each other.”
