Abby De La Rosa is celebrating a new milestone for her son Zillion, who was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder earlier this year.
On Tuesday, Oct. 22, the radio personality, 33, shared a sweet video on Instagram with her 3-year-old son Zillion and his speech therapist, in which the toddler says a new word for the first time. The three can be seen sitting in a playroom when Zillion says “open.” De La Rosa and the therapist then scream with excitement — prompting Zillion to burst into tears.
“I’m sorry, baby. We’re so proud of you,” she exclaims after he starts crying.
“Our son Zillion said ‘OPEN’ today for the first time and his therapist and I were ecstatic!!! We’ve been praying for moments like these and boy is god delivering!” the proud mom wrote in her caption.
“Our son is going from Non-verbal to verbal right before our eyes 🥹 Glory to god 🙌,” added De La Rosa, who shares Zillion, his twin brother Zion, and sister Beautiful, 21 months, with Nick Cannon, 43.
In August, De La Rosa shared another one of her son’s “verbal breakthroughs,” sharing a video on her Instagram Stories of herself and son Zillion as she held him in her arms and said “I love you.” Her son can be heard saying “Zion,” his twin brother’s name, as he turns around to face his mom.
“No one talks about the challenges of having a child with special needs. Some days are good others are so so hard on my mommy heart but yesterday we had another verbal break through [sic]!” De La Rosa wrote across the video.
“I like to always record Zillion when we play just to see if I catch anything and yesterday for the first time I caught him saying his brothers[sic] name not once but TWICE!!!! 😭😭,” she continued. “Thank you lord Jesus!!”
