The tournament features some of the world’s top Golfers, including Scottie Scheffler, who is riding high on his recent victory at the Hero World Challenge in November 2023, where he won by three shots. Scheffler’s triumph was one of his three wins in 2023, and he will be looking to surpass his T7 and T13 finishes from 2023 and 2021, respectively, at The Sentry.

Another notable golfer participating in the tournament is Viktor Hovland, the reigning FedExCup Champion, who was also part of the victorious European Ryder Cup team. Hovland’s impressive performances in the fall of 2023, which saw him finish in the top 10 three times worldwide, make him a strong contender for The Sentry title. The Norwegian star will be making his fourth consecutive appearance at the Plantation Course and aiming to better his previous best finish of 17th.

Max Homa is also among the Golfers feeling confident about their chances this week after winning the DP World Tour at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in November and finishing in the top 10 in six consecutive tournaments worldwide. Homa’s impressive form saw him finish T3 in his third appearance at The Sentry last year.

Other Golfers to watch out for include Tommy Fleetwood, Jordan Spieth, Collin Morikawa, and Xander Schauffele, who are all capable of producing breathtaking performances.

2024 The Sentry: Round 1 results

On Day 1 of The Sentry 2024, Sahith Theegala was the star of the show, shooting a 9-under 64 with an impressive 10 birdies and only one bogey. Theegala started the back nine with six consecutive birdies and finished the round with a birdie on the par-4, 18th hole, securing a one-shot lead.

He managed to beat other top Golfers, including Collin Morikawa, Camilo Villegas, Sungjae Im, Jason Day, and Viktor Hovland, who all shared the second position. Golf enthusiasts eagerly await to see how the rest of the tournament unfolds, with Theegala returning to the Plantation Course for the second round on Friday.
