The Los Angeles Chargers enter 2024 with a new coaching staff. They fired Brandon Staley after a 5-12 season and made the big splash by hiring Jim Harbaugh away from the Michigan Wolverines, where he was coming off a national championship. They hope to ride Harbaugh’s winning pedigree and unseat the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC.

Below, we look at the Los Angeles Chargers 2024 NFL Super Bowl odds from FanDuel Sportsbook along with projected win total, playoff, conference and division odds as we make our best NFL picks and predictions.

They will have to remake their offense as RB Austin Ekeler left in free agency, WR Keenan Allen was traded and WR Mike Williams was released.

They added RB Gus Edwards, TE Will Dissly, TE Hayden Hurst, DL Poona Ford, C Bradley Bozeman and LBs Denzel Perryman and Troy Dye in free agency.

In the draft, they took OT John Alt (Notre Dame) 5th overall, WR Ladd McConkey (Georgia) in the 2nd round and LB Junior Colson (Michigan) in Round 3.

Chargers over/under win total

Odds provided by FanDuel Sportsbook – last updated May 23 at 7:51 p.m. ET; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list.

  • 8.5 wins: (Over: -144 | Under: +118)

In 4 NFL seasons as coach of the San Francisco 49ers, Harbaugh’s lowest win total was 8 Games.

This is a really good line. Will they be a playoff team? They would need 9 or 10 wins and that feels like the absolute ceiling in a new system, even with Harbaugh’s success.

But you don’t want to bet a team’s ceiling. They are still, at best, the 2nd-best team in the division.

QB Justin Herbert’s record is 30-32 in his career as a starter.

They could hit the Over. They also might be pretty mediocre in Year 1 under Harbaugh and come close with 7 or 8 wins.

Chargers Super Bowl odds

  • +5000 (bet $100 to win $5,000)

The Chargers, at +5000 odds, only have 1.96% implied odds of winning the Super Bowl or 50/1 fractional odds. They are firmly in the longshot category.

The favorites are the San Francisco 49ers at +550 and Kansas City Chiefs at +600, with the Baltimore Ravens the only other team with shorter than +1000 odds at +950.

Seventeen teams have shorter odds than the Chargers. They are at least a season away from being expected to be a postseason team.

Will Chargers make the playoffs?

  • Yes -108 | No -114

Again, the Chargers are competing for a Wild Card berth. The Chiefs, Ravens and Buffalo Bills are the favorites in the AFC, leaving teams like the Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Las Vegas Raiders, Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, Miami Dolphins and Chargers to battle for the other spots.

Could they make it? Yes. But it is less than a 50/50 proposition without much of a payout.

Normally, I wouldn’t say bet on a team not to make the postseason, but with decent odds at -114 and a slew of teams already in the mix, it is going to be tough for L.A. to pull it off in their 1st year with Harbaugh.

In general, and especially if you root for another team in the AFC or the AFC West, it might be fun to back some negative energy and wager a little bit on CHARGERS DO NOT MAKE PLAYOFFS (-114).

Odds to win AFC West Division

  • Chiefs -230 (bet $230 to win $100)
  • Chargers +350 (bet $100 to win $350)
  • Raiders +900 (bet $100 to win $900)
  • Broncos +2000 (bet $100 to win $2,000)

The Chiefs remain the odds-on favorite in the division and still have QB Patrick Mahomes. They improved their receiving corps and still have the key pieces to their defense, looking to win a 3rd consecutive Super Bowl.

At +350 odds, the Chargers have 22.22% implied odds of winning the division or 7/2 fractional odds.

But they might be a Mahomes injury away from upsetting the Chiefs.

Because of the +350 odds, this would be just a small potentially big payout here, not one you expect to win.

But because they are the 2nd-best team in the division, they would be the next-best choice if the Chiefs have an unlucky season with injuries.

Chargers odds to win AFC

  • +2100 (bet $100 to win $2,100)

They are too much of a longshot (4.55% implied odds) to even throw a few bucks at, especially with all 7 teams ahead of them with shorter odds all having nice plus odds.
