Yasir Hussain teases Asad Siddiqui after Asma Abbas' remarks
In a whirlwind of social media activity, Pakistani actor Yasir Hussain has stirred the pot with a playful jab at his friend and fellow actor Asad Siddiqui, following remarks made by Asad's mother-in-law, veteran actor Asma Abbas.
The online frenzy erupted when a clip from Asma’s recent interview began circulating across various social media platforms. In the interview, the seasoned actor casually mentioned her lenient stance on married men engaging in "harmless flirting," stating, "Nothing wrong if a married man flirts a bit."
Seizing the opportunity for some light-hearted banter, Yasir wasted no time in sharing the viral clip on his Instagram Story. With a hint of humour, he congratulated Asad for his apparent stroke of luck in having his mother-in-law's blessing for flirting, playfully exclaiming, "You lucky man. Congratulations. Now you have the licence."
While Yasir's jest garnered laughs from many netizens, it also sparked a wave of criticism directed towards Asma. Online commentators voiced their disapproval, asserting that her perspective on marital flirting was misguided and inappropriate.
The Celebrity aired her unusual views on marriage in a candid conversation with host Wasi Shahi on his show Zabardast. “My husband already had a wife when we got married,” she reminded viewers. “I believe there is no harm in a man talking to another woman when you know he is the father of your children and coming back home to you. You shouldn’t suffocate someone so much.”
Asma’s views are a stark contrast to her very strict upbringing, where she and her four sisters were not even allowed to leave the house after dark. Sister of famed comedian and TV veteran Bushra Ansari, Asma recalled how their father, the late writer Ahmed Bashir, was dead against any of his four daughters pursuing a career in showbiz.
“He was a very conservative man,” remarked Asma. “Our father always tried to stop us from following our aspirations. He loved us very much, but we weren’t even allowed to set foot out of the house after maghrib.”
