Will Micah Parsons play vs Eagles? Cowboys provide positive update

The Dallas Cowboys will face their NFC East rivals Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday afternoon. This will be their first home game since Week 6, when the Detroit Lions gave them an embarrassing 47-9 beatdown.

They‘d love a shot at a home victory after having lost all three of their games at home so far this season, but it’s not going to be easy with several of their starting defenders out with injuries and now quarterback Dak Prescott on Injured Reserve and even wide receiver CeeDee Lamb dealing with a shoulder injury.

One key player, however, could be making his return this week.

Micah Parsons injury update

The Cowboys' star edge rusher Micah Parsons has been out with a high-ankle sprain since the Cowboys' Week 4 win over the Giants. He joined fellow defenders, DEs Marshawn Kneeland and DeMarus Lawrence, and cornerback DaRon Bland on the list of key defensive players out with injuries.

But some positive news has come out this week as Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy gave an optimistic update on Parsons, saying he’d be practicing on Wednesday, albeit on a limited basis.

“You know my chance is high,” said Parsons himself about playing this Sunday. “But we just trying to see how the practice week goes, see where the challenges are at, seeing what measures we got to take to see how we want to play this game.”

The Eagles are at 6-2 and the Cowboys at 3-5 when they face off this Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET. Without Parsons in the game, Dallas has struggled to get to the quarterback. Potentially having him back against the Jalen Hurts-led Eagles offense would at least give them a chance at a win against their division rivals.

If he does play, Parsons does not plan to ease back in.

“Once I’m playing, I’m playing,” Parsons said. “That’s just the comPetitor in me. I was banged up plenty of times and I’m just like once I’m comPeting, I’m comPeting. It’s hard to restrain that.”
