Craig Monroe, also known as “C. Mo,” is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) outfielder and sportscaster who played for the Texas Rangers, Detroit Tigers, Chicago Cubs, Minnesota Twins, and Pittsburgh Pirates. According to records obtained by the Detroit Free Press, Monroe is reportedly the subject of a law enforcement investigation into alleged criminal sexual conduct in Florida.

In a statement late Tuesday given by his lawyer, Monroe denied the allegations. The Tigers and Bally Sports Detroit pulled Monroe from broadcasts following accusations of sexual assault posted to social media. He was abruptly pulled from his job after the June 9th Game and has not worked a telecast since.

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office spokesman confirmed authorities are looking into Monroe but declined to provide additional details. What was supplied from the official police documents to the Detroit Free Press was a heavily redacted record that indicates that on June 12, someone with the office spoke with a caller about an “alleged sexual crime” in Port Charlotte, Florida. The report also indicated possible “child sex crime” investigation description.

The allegations suggest Monroe repeatedly engaged in criminal sexual conduct starting when the woman was 12, and both resided in Florida. The woman who made the social media posts does not provide her full name but offers specific descriptions of alleged illegal conduct in video and text formats.
