There will, unfortunately, be no “Monday Night Football” game on January 8 as ESPN, the main broadcaster for NFL in the US, doesn’t air their typical Monday show during the final week of the regular season. If you were out getting your favourite drinks and snacks for the football, however, do not fear, it is not all bad news.

The NFL likes to have its playoff planning all done and dusted by Sunday night, meaning that what one might expect to be the final Monday of the season has already been and gone. And it’s not all bad news: there will be a Monday Game played during the wild-card round of the 2024 NFL postseason which will be the official final MNF of the season.

Wipe away the tears! Despite the fact we’ve got no NFL tonight, there is of course some fantastic sport lined up; the College Football Playoff National Championship is set to be broadcast on ESPN tonight: Michigan and Washington will play each other with undefeated seasons on the line for both. The Michigan Wolverines take on the Washington Huskies and both hold a 14-0 record ahead of the game. It’s set to be a fantastic match up against a ferocious attack and a sturdy defence.

Instead of putting a Game on tonight (Monday), the NFL scheduled two Games for last Saturday: Pittsburgh Steelers 10-17 Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans 19-23 Indianapolis Colts.
