Why isn't Chris Olave playing for the Saints against the Broncos on Thursday Night Football?
It had to be difficult for New Orleans Saints coach Dennis Allen to announce during Wednesday’s media availability that the team will be without its top two wide receivers, Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed, heading into its Thursday night Game against the Denver Broncos. The Broncos have also ruled out Pat Surtain II with a concussion for Thursday night.
It made their challenge even harder this week as they intend to prepare the roster to take on the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football.
What happened to Chris Olave, and why he’s not playing against Denver?
Wide receiver Chris Olave, the team’s top target, has been ruled out for the upcoming Game due to a concussion he sustained in the previous week’s match against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. There is widespread belief that the hit he endured early in the Game should have resulted in a penalty.
His absence will undoubtedly have a marked impact on the team. It will also leave rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler without his primary weapon. Adding to the team’s woes, wide receiver Rashid Shaheed is left out of the lineup, scheduled to undergo meniscus surgery on Thursday, and will probably miss the rest of the regular season.
The magnitude of the Saints' personnel situation best describes the fact that they have 17 players listed on the injury report heading into Week 7. Out of these 17, 13 have either been limited participants in practice on both Monday and Tuesday or have yet to participate in practice this week.
