Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield and his wife, Emily, are suing a group of companies connected to his family, specifically father, James, and brother, Matt.

According to reports, the couple claim the Camwood Capital Management Group and its subsidiaries unlawfully “funnelled” $12 million of their money between 2018 and 2021 “without authorization, proper documentation, or adequate accounting of the transactions”. Camwood is owned by James Mayfield, while Matt is a stakeholder.

Camwood and its subsidiaries allegedly used money from Baker and Emily Mayfield’s personal accounts, in addition to from Team BRM LLC, their limited liability company, for payroll purposes, as well as to pay for other operating expenses.

Baker Mayfield files breach of contract complaint against father’s company

Last Friday, the Bucs star and his wife filed a breach of contract complaint in a Texas federal district court.

It states that a settlement was, in theory, reached in January, requiring the defendants to repay $11.7 million plus interest on a repayment schedule starting on September 30, refinance an existing loan and allow the Mayfields access to the companies’ books.

However, Baker and Emily Mayfield say none of the conditions of the settlement have been met, and that the defendants won’t return their calls. With the breach of contract complaint having been filed, Camwood will now have to respond to the Mayfield’s claims.
