As the NFL enters Week 13, your fantasy season is likely just two or three weeks away from the playoffs. Now is the final push to make it. Last week was rough with six teams on a bye week, but a Thanksgiving gift in Week 13 gives us all 32 teams playing.

Before we dive into the recommended starts of the week, here are some key injuries you’ll need to consider.

Week 13 key injuries

  • QB Trevor Lawrence, Jaguars (shoulder) - will be re-evaluated after practice this week
  • QB Gardner Minshew, Raiders (shoulder) - out for the season
    • QB Aidan O'Connell, Raiders (thumb) - being activated off IR and will replace Minshew
  • RB David Montgomery, Lions (shoulder) - Questionable
  • RB Brian Robinson, Commanders (ankle) - Questionable
  • RB Austin Ekeler, Commanders (concussion) - Questionable
  • WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (knee) - Questionable
  • WR Josh Downs, Colts (shoulder) - Questionable
  • WR Romeo Doubs, Packers (concussion) - Questionable
  • WR Cowboys Brandin Cooks (knee) - IR but likely to return this week
  • WR Cedric Tillman, Browns (concussion) - Questionable
  • TE Jake Ferguson, Cowboys (concussion) - Questionable
  • TE Ja'Tavion Sanders, Panthers (neck) - Questionable
  • TE Tyler Higbee, Rams (knee) - PUP; likely to return to practice, unlikely to play in the game

Week 13 Fantasy Football Starts

Quarterbacks

Sam Darnold, Vikings vs Cardinals: Darnold is on a roll with the Vikings, having put up at least 21 fantasy points in three of his last four Games. In their overtime win over the Bears, Darnold put up 330 yards for two touchdowns and no interceptions. Although Week 13’s matchup against the Cardinals will be more challenging, I expect him to keep the momentum going.

C.J. Stroud, Texans @ Jaguars: It’s true that Stroud is having an off year after his stellar rookie season, and his performance in Week 12 and turnovers are concerning. But his one great game this season came against the Jaguars in Week 4, when he threw for a season-high 345 yards and two touchdowns, and no interceptions. The Jags have won just two games this season and are allowing the second-most fantasy points to quarterbacks. If you start Stroud any week, let it be this one.

Running Backs

Bucky Irving, Buccaneers @ Panthers: The Panthers are allowing the most points to running backs, but even if that weren’t true, Irving would still have upside. The rookie has taken the receiving work away from Rachaad White, has scored at least 15 points in five of his last six games, is surpassing five yards per carry, and is fresh off a 27.1-point game against the Giants in Week 12.

Jaylen Warren, Steelers @ Bengals: Warren is not expected to see as many targets as Najee Harris, but he could still see an increase this week as they face Cincinnati. The Bengals have given up four rushing touchdowns in the last three games plus either 100 rushing yards or a rushing touchdown in any given game this season.

Wide Receivers

D.J. Moore, Bears @ Lions: If you dropped Moore, you may want to pick him back up again this week after his game against the Vikings, in which he had seven catches for 106 yards and a touchdown to put up 26.9 fantasy points. The Lions aren’t easy to beat, but they do happen to give the fifth-most points to receivers, so that’s in Moore’s favor.

Tank Dell, Texans @ Jaguars: For the same reason that Stroud’s a good start, Dell is a good one as well. In Week 4, the Jaguars allowed the Texans 19 receptions, 237 yards, and a touchdown. With the Jags likely to be focusing on shutting down Nico Collins, Dell’s workload looks to be in for an increase.

Tight Ends

Zach Ertz, Commanders vs Titans: Even with the Commanders’ recent struggles Ertz has managed to score at least 14 points in four of his last six games. In their loss to the Cowboys, Ertz made a touchdown for the second straight game. He has a favorable home match against the Titans in Week 13.

Cade Otton, Buccaneers @ Panthers: Starting any offensive player against the Panthers is a pretty safe bet, despite what we saw them do to the Chiefs last week. They have allowed the most non-PPR points to tight ends all season. And despite Otton’s low production in Week 12, he had at least six targets in the previous eight Games before that.
