Why ‘blindsided’ Matty Healy now finds Taylor Swift’s ‘TTPD’ album ‘hilarious’: report
Matty Healy still has mixed feelings about Taylor Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department.”
While Us Weekly reported Thursday that the 1975 frontman was “completely blindsided” by the number of songs seemingly about him, he now finds the album “hilarious.”
His friend told the outlet, “He loves the attention it’s brought to him, [but] he also thinks it’s hilarious because at no time [were they] ever serious.”
The pal alleged that the musician, 35, was not expecting Swift’s “lyrical content” to include references to getting married or starting a family.
“For her to be saying things about baby carriages … and living together — he says it had never even come up,” the insider noted of their fling, which took place last year. “He’s taking it in stride.”
Healy’s team has yet to respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Although Swift, 34, has not commented on the meanings — and the exes — behind her music, fans have theorized that “But Daddy I Love Him,” “Down Bad” and the titular song are about Healy.
The record began streaming in April, with Healy briefly speaking to paparazzi about it at the time.
“I haven’t really listened to that much of it but I’m sure it’s good,” he claimed with a smile when stopped on the street.
As for his mom, Denise Welch, she joked about the release on “Loose Women” that week.
“I wasn’t aware she had an album out at all,” she quipped on the British talk show. “I haven’t heard anything about it. Anyway, I wish her all the best.”
Healy’s aunt had more to say, telling the Daily Mail that her nephew would “not be surprised” by Swift’s lyrics and is “very happy” with girlfriend Gabbriette Bechtel.

She added, “We know a bit more about what went on than has been in the press.”
“TTPD” also made headlines for apparent references to Swift’s ex Joe Alwyn, as well as her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
The pop star kicked off the Europe leg of her Eras Tour in May and has incorporated her latest album, which Kelce, 34, called “unbelievable” in a “New Heights” episode.
The athlete’s rave review came after he attended Swift’s show in Paris with Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper.
