11 of the 12 players who will be part of the United States team in the 2024 Olympic Games are already known. LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers), Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), Kevin Durant (Phoenix Suns), Joel Embiid ( Philadelphia Sixers), Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics), Devin Booker (Phoenix Suns), Jrue Holiday (Boston Celtics), Anthony Davis (Los Angeles Lakers), Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves), Bam Adebayo (Miami Heat) and Tyrese Haliburton ( Indiana Pacers) are chosen to represent the latest Dream Team, which will arrive in Paris to make up for the recent negative results and win an Olympic gold that has been part of the North Americans since Beijing 2008. Since then, the championship has always been a common denominator in a team that wants to recover the lost glory of the last World Cup and return to the top of basketball.

The 2023 World Cup was a disappointment for the United States basketball team. Although they improved from their fourth-place finish in 2019, they did not earn a medal. The team also appeared more vulnerable than in previous years, making them an easier target for opponents. This is partly due to the evolution of international basketball, which has been helped by the NBA’s decision to open its doors to players from all over the world without any barriers.

For example, the last three NBA MVPs have been Serbian Nikola Jokic, Greek Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Cameroonian-American Joel Embiid. The previous American-born player to win the award was James Harden in 2018. Players like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jokic, and Luka Doncic are among the favorites to win the award this season. The comPetition is now more open than ever, with many European players excelling in certain aspects of the Game over their American counterparts.

A significant shift in basketball has motivated American players to regain their crown and assert their dominance. LeBron James has taken the lead and rallied all the stars to come together after the World Cup results were announced. The Dream Team is making a comeback with the addition of Embiid and Curry.

The only thing left to complete the team is the 12th player, with Kawhi Leonard being the clear favorite. Other options include Paul George, Paolo Banchero, Mikal Bridges, and Jalen Brunson. Kawhi has expressed his desire to join the team. Still, his physical condition remains a concern due to a knee injury that sidelined him during the Clippers’ final regular-season Game. He is currently working to be ready for the first-round tie against the Mavericks, who Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving will lead.
