The Chicago Cubs will host the Chicago White Sox for a Windy City Showdown this Tuesday from Wrigley Field.

White Sox Preview & Projected Starter

Chicago enters at 47-72 after being swept by Milwaukee. The White Sox good week of play ended on a bad note, and they’ll look to bounce back here in Northside this Tuesday. The Chicago offense is 4.72 scoring runs per Game, while batting .235, with a .292 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 5.72 ERA, with a 1.21 WHIP.

Touki Toussaint (1-5, 4.27 ERA, 47 Ks) will open the game for Chicago. The sixth-year pitcher managed to tie a season-high with nine strikeouts last time out against New York, but he’d also allow four runs thru five innings to drop his second straight start. Toussaint hasn’t capitalized on the flier the Sox have taken on him, as he’s given up four runs or more in three of his last four starts. Toussaint did manage to toss a scoreless inning against the Cubs last month, but they will need more from him here.

White Sox Player Trends & Props

Luis Robert has produced a run in four of his last six Games, and he leads Chicago in hits (116), home runs (31), and RBI (65).

Andrew Vaughn had multiple hits in two of three matchups with Milwaukee, and he’s posting splits of .255/15/62

Eloy Jiménez has recorded a hit in five of the last six games, and he’s totaled an identical fourteen homers and 50 RBI, while leading the Sox in batting (.278).

Chicago White Sox Team Facts

• The White Sox have lost each of their last six night Games against National League opponents.

• The White Sox have covered the run line in seven of their last eight games at Wrigley Field.

Cubs Preview & Projected Starter

Chicago comes in at 61-57 after taking two of three from Toronto. The Cubs couldn’t pull off the sweep in Canada, but they won their third series of the month, and they’ll look to take down their crosstown foes here. The Chicago offense is scoring 4.12 runs per game, while batting .243, with a .323 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.18 ERA, with a 1.28 WHIP.

Kyle Hendricks (4-6, 3.96 ERA, 57 Ks) will take the bump for Chicago. The tenth-year righty pitched well in Queens last week, striking out six thru five innings, while holding the Mets to two runs en route to a Cubs win. Hendricks bounced back from a pair of losses with the solid outing in NYC, and he’ll look to win his second Windy City Showdown matchup of the season here. Hendricks delivered a quality start in the Southside last month to earn his fourth victory, and he’ll look to get the Cubs back into the win column here.

Cubs Player Trends & Props

Cody Bellinger has produced a run in six of the last eight Games, and he’s leading the Cubs in batting (.328), with eighteen home runs and 59 RBI.

Dansby Swanson plated five runs in the final two games in Toronto, and he’s posting splits of .257/18/60.

Nico Hoerner brings a six-game hitting streak into this series, and he leads the Cubbies in hits (128) and RBI (59).

Jeimer Canderlario has collected a hit five of his last seven appearances, and he’s putting up splits of .275/17/56.

Chicago Cubs Team Facts

• The Cubs have covered the run line in each of their last five night games against AL Central opponents following a road loss.

• The 'Inning 1 OVER 0.5 runs' market has hit in each of the Cubs' last five games as favorites.

• The Cubs have trailed after 5 innings in each of their last three games as home favorites against American League opponents.

Corey’s Free Pick

These two Chicago-based clubs are headed in different directions, and I think those trends continue here. The Cubs have played their way back into the playoff picture, as they now sit less than four Games behind Milwaukee in the division. The White Sox carry one of the worst records in the league, and being swept again, the morale seems as low as ever. The hosts will carry an advantage with Kyle Hendricks set to go, and another reliable outing from him should lead to a win for the North. Back the Cubs for this Crosstown Classic.
