Venezuela vs Brazil: CONMEBOL qualifier preview
Five-time winners of the World Cup, Brazil lost four out of their first eight Games in South America‘s qualifying comPetition, leaving themselves in danger of missing out on the finals for the first time in their History.
However, October wins over Chile and Peru have lifted Dorival Júnior’s men to fourth in the standings, from which the top six will qualify automatically for the 23rd edition of the World Cup, which is to be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. The Brazilians are four points clear of seventh-placed Bolivia, who as thing stand will go into an inter-confederation playoff for a place at the tournament.
Venezuela, meanwhile, are one point behind the Bolivians. Chasing their first ever World Cup berth, the Vinotinto won two of their first four 2026 qualifiers - and drew 1-1 in Brazil on matchday three. However, the Venezuelans have now slipped to eighth in the 10-team table after a run of six games without a win.
