Like a fine wine, Aaron Rodgers keeps improving with age and his poised for his first full season with the New York Jets following his move to the Big Apple in 2023 after 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers.

The move to the Jets in April ‘23 in a deal that included the Packers’ first and fifth-round selections in the 2023 Draft turned sour quickly as the four-time MVP ruptured his Achilles tendon on his debut against the Bills, ruling him out for the rest of the season.

The 40-year-old signed a three-year, $112,500,000 contract with the Jets, including $75,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $37,500,000. In 2024, he will earn a base salary of $3,161,112 and a signing bonus of $35,000,000.

2024 Jets return

With the new NFL season getting underway, one of the most highly anticipated returns is that of the veteran quarterback with Rodgers speaking about his return to the media ahead of the Jets’ season opener against the 49ers in San Francisco.

“Yeah. I mean, there might be a little smirk after the fourth one,” Rodgers told reporters last week. “I’m sure they’ll catch it, but I’m going to get in my mind space. You know, I really had a year to remember in a lot of ways, some really difficult things with some great things as well. So, there’s always a perspective moment during the anthem to collect your thoughts and kind of send gratitude out to the universe for the opportunity to stand on the field in pads. So, I’ll be really excited about that.”

Asked if he thinks he has anything to prove, Rodgers said: “I think you always have something to prove. It just kind of changes who you’re proving that to.”

One of the most anticipated releases on the Netflix schedule is: Aaron Rodgers: Enigma, a three-episode documentary series which promises to reveal a side of Rodgers that few get to see.

The series showcases the player as he looks to make a return from the Achilles injury sustained in the matchday 1 game of the 23-24 season at MetLife Stadium as well as chronicling the defining moments of his life and career.

Aaron Rodgers: Enigma is released on 17 December (2024).
