Last year’s Preakness winner was Early Voting, who edged favorite Epicenter by a length and a quarter for Chad Brown with jockey Jose Ortiz on board. In total, 6 fillies have won the Preakness, with the most recent being Swiss Skydiver in 2020. The race was also won by American Pharoah in 2015 and Justify in 2018, who went on to win the American Triple Crown as they also won the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes that year. The largest margin of victory in the race came in 2004, when Smarty Jones scored by 11 and a half lengths.
