When does Taylor Fritz play next at Wimbledon 2024? Who is his opponent in the round of 16?
Taylor Fritz is one match away from equalling his best ever performance at Wimbledon after defeating 26th seed Alejandro Tobilo in the third round on Saturday. However, the American will likely have his work cut out in the round of 16, where he will take on Alexander Zverev, seeded fourth.
Fritz defeated Tobilo in straight sets on Court 2 and offered the Chilean next to no encouragement thanks to another impressive display of serving.
The 13th seed won 92% of points on his first serve, all the while racking up 20 aces (to Tobago’s eight). Although Fritz converted only two of 14 break points, that was enough for a 7-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory, with his opponent not offered a single opportunity to break.
When does Taylor Fritz play Alexander Zverev at Wimbledon?
Fritz and Zverev are scheduled to play on Monday, July 9. At the time of writing, Wimbledon has yet to announce the order of play. This information will be added once it is available.

Fritz v Zverev head to head
Fritz and Zverez have met on eight previous occasions, with the German winning on five occasions to the American’s three.
Zverez won the last meeting between the pair in the quarterfinals in the ATP Masters in Rome in May, and has also come out on top in two previous encounters at Wimbledon (round of 64 in 2018, round of 32 in 2021).
While Fritz has yet to get beyond the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam, Zverev has previously reached two finals (2020 US Open, 2024 French Open). However, reaching the round of 16 is his best ever achievement at Wimbledon.
The 27-year-old hasn’t dropped a set in this year’s tournament, beating Roberto Carballés of Spain, Marcos Giron from the United States and Great Britain’s Cameron Norrie in the first three rounds. Fritz, meanwhile, has only lost one set, to Arthur Rinderknech in the round two.
Following his win over Norrie, Zverev sang the praises of Pep Guardiola, who was in attendance, joking he would like to have the Manchester City manager as part of his coaching team.
