What security concerns have forced Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell to move house?

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell has been forced to move house due to security concerns, with some fans seemingly taking the team’s NFL losses far too seriously.

Speaking to Crain’s Detroit Business, the 48-year-old spoke of his reluctance to leave the “beautiful” home: “It’s just that people figured out where we lived when we lost”.

What incidents led to Dan Campbell selling his house?

Fox 2 Detroit has reported the Campbell family, who have two children, has been the victim of a number of incidents, which began after the defeat to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 17 last season. On that occasion, Campbell’s home address was leaked to the public, which led to several subsequent issues.

That included a prank in which contractors were sent to the house to make repairs that weren’t required. Then, the Campbells were reportedly harassed at their home after the Lions’ defeat to the San Francisco 49ers in last year’s NFC Championship Game.

That prompted Campbell and wife Holly to decide to make a change, which they have been able to do so quickly. The 7,800-square-foot house in Bloomfield Hills was listed for $4.5 million this week, with a sale agreed inside 24 hours, say Crain Homes, who have already helped the family move into a new property.

Ashely Crain, the founder and CEO of Crain Homes, says the prospective buyers are “huge” Lions fans. Whether that makes them more or less likely to have been the pranksters in the first place isn’t completely clear.
