What did Michael Irvin say the Cowboys need to do to improve?
The Dallas Cowboys are at 3-4 on the season and it‘s only getting more difficult from here. From the offseason, the theme for the team has been to just basically make do with what they‘ve got and that hasn’t changed.
After letting several key players walk away in the offseason, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones did nothing to replace them and has said he also has no plans to make moves before the NFL trade deadline on November 5, despite their miserable season so far and the obvious roster needs.
Dallas Cowboys Hall of Famer and former wide receiver Michael Irvin is one of several people who disagrees wholeheartedly with this self-sabotaging plan.
Michael Irvin’s thoughts on the Cowboys this season
When stopped by a reporter from TMZ, Irvin said that the Cowboys need to make some changes if they want to have any hopes of saving their season.
“The only hope the Cowboys really have right now is if some kind of move is made at the trade deadline,” Irvin said. “They have to do something. It’s bad right now.”
“The morale is bad. Everybody’s hurting.”
Still, it does not look like a trade is in the Cowboys' plans, as Jones already said they don’t plan to be active.
When asked his thoughts on whether or not Dallas should make a change at head coach, Irvin simply said, “if you continue losing, something‘s going to have to happen.” He went on to say that being an NFL coach is one of the jobs with the highest level of pressure. “If you don’t win, yo ass gone,” he said.
The Cowboys' problems this season are endless and one trade or a new head coach will not solve them all. They have the worst rushing offense in the league and their defense is the second-worst in points allowed per Game (28.3). Their RB1 Rico Dowdle has yet to score a rushing touchdown and their quarterback Dak Prescott has a 10:8 touchdown-to-interception ratio through seven Games.
No, a trade won‘t fix them, but Irvin’s point here is they have to do something. That‘s opposed to the literal nothing they’ve done since the end of last season.
