Even across the glittering History of Real Madrid, supporters at the Santiago Bernabéu are experiencing a real golden age.

Last year’s Champions League triumph was their sixth in the last 11 seasons, an incredible run of success that has seen them surge to 15 European titles. More than twice as many as any other team. They have built a team stuffed with global superstars and, under the watchful gaze of Carlo Ancelotti, will be confident of retaining their crown.

Madrid also won LaLiga last year, completing their second double in three seasons, and recently added Kylian Mbappé to their fearsome front line. They may not be the most considered, or the most cohesive team in the competition, but they may well be the best.

How many times have Real Madrid won the Champions League?

Los Blancos have been crowned European champions 15 times during the 69-year History of the comPetition. They lifted the European Cup in each of the first five seasons, an incredible run that saw them establish themselves as the Kings of Europe.

They did, however, suffer a 32-year dry spell in the late 20th century, finally ended by a victory over Juventus in the 1997/98 final. More recently, Carlo Ancelotti and Zinedine Zidane have each led the club to three Champions League wins as head coach, an unparalleled run of success in the modern era.

Only Dani Carvajal and Luka Modric played a part in all six of those successes. The two Madrid legends are about to embark on what could be their last seasons with the club and can pull ahead of Francisco Gento as the player with the most titles if they retain the title.

Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti already holds the record for the most wins as manager, boasting five across the course of his stellar career in the dugout. He led AC Milan to the Champions League title twice in the 2000s, before picking up another three winners’ medals in the Spanish capital. He also won two more as a player with AC Milan, taking his tally to seven in total.
