Celtic’s 2-0 victory over Hearts not only fortified their flawless start to the Premiership season but also highlighted some less celebrated aspects of their play.

Among the commendable performances, new goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel’s distribution stood out, marking a significant upgrade in the team’s play from the back.

While Schmeichel had a relatively quiet Game in terms of saves, it was his throw to Daizen Maeda on the left wing that captured the attention of fans. This seemingly minor yet technically proficient moment showcased Schmeichel’s ability to initiate fast counter-attacks, a skill that could prove crucial both in domestic and European matches.

Such an attribute brings a new dimension to Celtic’s Gameplay. Historically, the goalkeeping role at Celtic hasn’t had a great ball-playing defender, but that looks to have changed.

It really was world-class from Schmeichel. Daizen Maeda was shoved off the ball quite easily, but it will have some rewards in the future.

The Dane has had a great start to the season, seamlessly filling the void left by Joe Hart after he retired from the Game at the end of last season. He’s yet to be properly tested by opposition strikers, but so far so good from the summer signing.
