USWNT - Colombia: date, times, how to watch on TV, stream online | W Gold Cup
After a surprise defeat to Mexico in the final round of group-stage games, the United States women’s national team must negotiate a demanding W Gold Cup quarter-final against Colombia.
In Monday’s 2-0 loss to the Mexicans, the tournament hosts suffered their first home reverse against CONCACAF opposition since December 2000 - and were forced to settle for second place in Group A.
The result left the USWNT with only the fourth-best group-phase record of the eight quarter-final qualifiers, which is why Twila Kilgore’s side have now been paired with the round-robin stage’s fifth-ranked team. Group A winners Mexico, on the other hand, have been given a theoretically easier last-eight tie against Paraguay - a side 27 places below Colombia in the latest FIFA women’s world rankings.
The Colombians, who outperformed the USWNT at last summer’s Women’s World Cup, were runners-up to Brazil in W Gold Cup Group B.
Las Cafeteras secured their last-eight spot with a 2-0 matchday-three victory over Puerto Rico, with Catalina Usme and Linda Caicedo scoring the goals.

USWNT vs Colombia: head to head
Although a quarter-final against Colombia represents a tough test for the USWNT, the Stars and Stripes head into the clash with an excellent record against the South Americans. The four-time world champions are unbeaten in 12 meetings with the Colombians (W10 D2 L0).
Most recently, the countries faced off in a double-header of friendlies in October, with the US winning 3-0 in San Diego after a 0-0 draw in Sandy, Utah.
USWNT vs Colombia: prediction
The USWNT and Colombia’s most recent competitive meeting, at the 2016 Olympics, ended in a 2-2 draw. We reckon it’s going to finish level once more on Sunday, with the home team prevailing from the spot. Prediction: USWNT 1-1 Colombia (US win on penalties).
