The Detroit Tigers will host the Minnesota Twins for Game two of their divisional series this Saturday from Comerica Park on FOX. Minnesota took Game one behind a strong pitching effort, 4-1.

Twins Betting Preview

Minnesota moved to 39-38 after defeating Detroit. The Twins were outmatched at the plate again last night, and they’ll look to bounce back at home here Wednesday . The Minnesota offense is scoring 3.62 runs per Game, while batting .233, with a .315 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.44 ERA, with a 1.18 WHIP. Carlos Correa has recorded a hit in five of the last six Games, and he leads the Twins in RBI (36), while hitting ten home runs. Byron Buxton leads the team in homers (13), after going deep three times in the Boston series. Longtime Twin Max Kepler has homered in the Game one win, marking his third in the last four Games, and he’s up to 10 HR and 23 RBI.

Pablo Lopez (3-4, 4.40 ERA, 110 Ks) will take the mound for Minnesota. The sixth-year pitcher took the loss at home last week to Boston, after allowing four runs in 5.2 innings. Lopez did manage to clear nine strikeouts for the second outing in a row, but he’s cooled off a bit since signing a big time extension in April. Lopez has allowed three runs or more in five of his last seven starts, and he’s looked to get back on track this weekend here in Detroit.

Tigers Betting Preview

Detroit moved to 32-42 after losing to Minnesota. The Tigers had another quiet outing at the plate, and they’ll look to bounce back Saturday night. The Detroit offense is scoring 2.72 runs per Game, while batting .224, with a .300 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.51 ERA, with a 1.26 WHIP. Javier Baez has shown up in Riley Greene’s absence, and after collecting a hit in twelve of the last fifteen Games, he leads the Tigers in RBI (37). Matt Vierling has produced a run in five of the last seven Games, and he’s batting .263 with 22 RBI. Spencer Torkelson is second on the team in home runs (8) and RBI (34).

Reese Olson (0-2, 5.59 ERA, 19 Ks) will take the mound for Detroit. The rookie pitcher put together his best outing of the season on Monday versus Kansas City, tossing eight strikeouts over six innings of work. Both marked season-highs for Olson, and after delivering his first quality start, he’ll look to follow that performance up strong here in division play.

Minnesota vs Detroit Trends

Minnesota is 38-39 against the spread this season, with a 34-40-3 O/U record. Detroit is 39-35 ATS this year, with a 40-33-1 over/under record.

Corey’s Free Pick

Two of the more pedestrian offenses in the MLB will face off again in divisional action this weekend, and it’s hard to look away from the 70 million-dollar man on the mound Pablo Lopez here. The former Miami pitcher has endured his ups and downs since landing in Minnesota, and this simply feels like a manageable spot he can go out and execute in. The Twins also present more ‘threats’ at the plate than the rebuilding Tigers, so a strong effort from Lopez may be all they need here to remain in the win column. Back Minnesota to take Game two of this AL Central series.
