The Friday MLB slate looks promising with every team in action. I’m looking to build on my 6-1 start to the season with two player prop bets.

You can also read all of our MLB picks for today’s action.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto (LAD) Under 4.5 Hits Allowed (-109)

Line available at Caesars Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto was a hot commodity coming over from the Japan league. He signed a 12-year deal worth $325 million. Naturally, there was cause for concern in his first Game pitched as a Los Angeles Dodger. Against the San Diego Padres in the Korea Series, Yamamoto pitched just one inning and allowed five runs – not the start either envisioned. But since then, Yoshinobu Yamamoto has started two Games over 10 innings without allowing a run, combined for just five hits allowed. That’s the route we’re taking tonight.

Yamamoto’s outs line is set at 15.5 with vig on the under – understandably so, as he has topped at 80 pitches. The leash is unknown for Yamamoto, but it’s known that the Dodgers prefer to be cautious with their long-term investments. With a rested pen after a day off yesterday, backing the under of 4.5 hits allowed is the best bet since his strikeout prop has moved to 5.5.

Spencer Steer (CIN) Over 1.5 Hits/Runs/RBI (-140)

Line available at BetMGM Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Spencer Steer is off to a blazing start to his 2024 campaign. He’s hitting .372 with three home runs and 15 runs batted in. His 15 RBIs are tied for the league lead in baseball. It sure helps hitting behind the likes of Jake Fraley and Elly De La Cruz – both hitting above .300 against RHP. But that’s nothing to Steer’s .444 average. Luckily, Steer and the Reds offense will be batting out on the road against the Chicago White Sox and Chris Flexen with winds blowing out of upwards of 20 MPH.

After spending last season with the Colorado Rockies and being constantly beat up in Coors Field with a 6.20 xERA – bottom three percentile, Flexen was welcomed to the woeful White Sox. Flexen has allowed seven runs over 10 innings pitched to start the season. Those two games came against the Atlanta Braves and Kansas City Royals – both surging offenses. It won’t get easier tonight against the Reds, who are slugging at a top-10 rate against RHP. Look for Steer to cash this player prop bet for the 9th time in 13 games this season.
